The scene opens at night in Alan’s office. He’s working at his desk and Sally is nervously pacing with a
folder in her hand.

Sally Heep: Why aren’t you helping me?
Alan Shore: Sally, I have a trial of my own beginning tomorrow. A rather big one.
Sally Heep: But this is my very first trial.
Alan Shore: You’ve certainly been in court before. I have no doubt you’ll do well.
Sally Heep: Motion practice. This is with a jury. I don’t—I don’t think I’m ready.

Alan gets up from his desk, closes his office door, walks over to Sally and takes the folder out of her hand. He takes her hands in his and looks at her intently.

Alan Shore: Sally, look at me. You trust me?
Sally Heep: I do.
Alan Shore: And because you trust me, you’ll believe what I’m about to tell you.
Sally Heep: I will
Alan Shore: That’s all it is.
Sally Heep: All what is?
Alan Shore: Trial law. Getting the jury to trust you, so they will believe what you tell them.
Sally Heep: Really?

Alan puts his hands on either side of her face and strokes her face.

Alan Shore: Sincerity, Sally. Once you learn to fake that, there’ll be no stopping you.

Brilliante film.

De Vlaamse en Nederlandse versie van het met liefde verfilmde verhaal over Gilles respectievelijk Remco. Bart vindt de Vlaamse versie misschien net iets leuker maar moeilijker te verstaan. Of toch even leuk….?

Ik ben een beetje laat, maar zeker nog de moeite waard. 1e seizoen uit 1999.

Tony: Either way, she could need a change in her living situation, be around people. Well, we were looking at Green Grove. It’s a beautiful facility. Dr. Melfi: It’s more like a hotel at Cap d’Antibes. Tony: Yeah.

Livia: I’m not going to that nursing home. Green Grove is a retirement community. Tony: It’s more like a hotel at Captain Teebs. Livia: Who’s he? Tony: The captain owns luxury hotels or something. That’s not the point.

Bij vlagen snoeiharde maar ook heel boeiende film, met als achtergrond de Russische maffia in Londen. Een bijna mainstream flick van cult regisseur Cronenberg. De Canadees wordt ook wel “the King of Venereal Horror” genoemd.

Een Mac mini uitgerust met Mac OS X Leopard (daarmee Front Row) en de Sapphire plugin maken een dijk van een HTPC setup.

Irma walks up Alan at his table. He’s pouring champagne.
Alan Shore: Ms Levine!
Irma Levine: Mr Shore.
Alan Shore: I took the liberty of ordering champagne.
Irma Levine: Thank you. She drinks. Mmmm. So? These fantasies?
Alan Shore: They’re many and varied actually. But now that you’re here they seem a very poor substitute for reality.
Irma Levine: Well, I’ll admit I’ve been having some fantasies of my own.
Alan Shore: Have you? Tell.
Irma Levine: I walk into a building. My old high school gym? You follow me inside and there are these booths set up. It’s election day.
Alan Shore: Why not?
Irma Levine: I go into a very small booth and you follow me in. Your hand, like the breeze, reaches up my inner
thighs and I turn around and I say, “It’s not right.” And you say…
Alan Shore: Shut up and let’s do this.
Irma Levine: And you say, “What’s not right?” And I say, “It’s not right that I should vote and my vote doesn’t count due to redistricting.”
Alan Shore: What?
Irma Levine: All of our elected officials are redrawing the district voting lines to tilt the elections in their favor. Our officials are stealing our country, Alan. And we need to stop them. And I may need a lawyer.
Alan Shore: And I’m guessing you’re not looking for a naked one.
Irma Levine: This could be the worst threat to democracy ever, Alan. And no one is paying attention. We’re gonna make them pay attention.

Heroes is anders dan anders. Beetje vreemd en soms bizar verhaal over een aantal -op het eerste oog doorsnee- Amerikanen die allemaal een bijzondere gave hebben en uit alle macht een cheerleader van het leven proberen te redden. Hoewel ik geen Sci-Fi liefhebber ben, heb ik de serie met veel plezier gekeken.

Een meesterwerk dat lang op de nominatie heeft gestaan om Nederland te vertegenwoordigen bij de Oscar’s. Deze rolprent zou daar zeker niet misstaan hebben! Hulde voor de makers.

Het heeft even geduurd, maar het is er dan eindelijk van gekomen. Na 24 (alweer 5 seizoenen achter de rug) en Lost (ik wacht op deel 3) ben ik gisteren begonnen aan Prison Break. De pilot aflevering was de moeite waard en vraagt -zoals het hoort bij een pilot- om vervolg.  Er zijn een paar dingen die ik me nu al afvraag:

• origami?
• zien we de tattoo-artieste -met de opvallende tattoo in haar hals- nog terug?
• hoe loopt het af met de Taj Mahal van Henry Pope (Stacey Keach)?
